Optelecom-NKF signs co-development agreement with Traficon

CBR Staff Writer Published 20 November 2008

US-based Optelecom-NKF has signed an official co-development agreement with Traficon, a Belgium-based provider of video image processing system for traffic analysis.

Traficon and Optelecom-NKF have been working together through 2008 to develop the Siqura TrafficServer, an IP-based automatic incident detection (AID) system for the traffic monitoring market to be commercially released in the second quarter of 2009.

The integration of Traficon's AID algorithm into Optelecom-NKF's video server technology is expected to result in an enhanced video detection platform. The TrafficServer is expected to detect major incidents quickly, including stopped vehicles, smoke in tunnels, wrong-way drivers, fallen objects, and slow moving vehicles.

TrafficServer is expected to display incident verification data on-screen and provides real-time DVD-quality video content for accurate verification and recording at the Traffic Management Center.

Roland Hooghiemstra, vice president of sales and marketing for Optelecom-NKF, said: Our collaboration with Traficon supports our comprehensive strategy to provide customers with solutions that meet their application-specific needs. The Siqura TrafficServer provides traffic authorities moving towards IP solutions with a sophisticated instrument to improve traffic flows and safety.
