HP has extended its ProLiant Generation 8 (Gen8) portfolio with the introduction of new SL270s Gen 8 server that claimed to deliver enhanced processor power for extreme computing, required in research projects in government, academic and industrial institutions.
The new server is expected to deliver processor density, compute power and intelligent management features with the HP ProActive Insight Architecture.
HP ProActive Insight Architecture is designed to automate, accelerate and optimise a server environment to attain higher performance levels.
The new server leverages built-in HP 3-D Sea of Sensors technology to help clients in identifying overutilised servers based on location, power, workload and temperature data, to improve energy efficiency and reduce operational costs.
It also includes an HP Active Health System that automates troubleshooting across the system, eliminating tedious administrative tasks and speeding problem analysis and resolution, the company said.
HP ProLiant SL270s Gen8 offers maximised processor density by supporting up to eight Intel Xeon Phi coprocessors or eight NVIDIA Kepler graphic processing units (GPUs) per server.
The company said it will be suitable for scientific researchers which requires calculative-intensive tasks such as modeling, weather forecasting, oil exploration or genetic research, consume massive amounts of data that require massive amounts of computational power and energy resources.
ProLiant Generation 8 claimed to provide enhanced level of performance while consuming less power and occupying lesser space.
